Thank you for your patience while we assessed how to safely host Vipassana Courses during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since June 15th, 2020 the state of Delaware has been in Phase 2 of its statewide re-opening. Over the past several months, Dhamma Pubbananda has been piloting a re-opening strategy for the Center with greatly reduced capacity and in accordance with state guidelines that observe strict social distancing, mask-wearing, and frequent sanitation. Following this successful pilot program, we are pleased to be able to offer courses to the public again, starting December 30th, 2020 with accommodation for up to a total of 16 students and 4 servers.
We recognize that many of you want to sit courses, and we will do our best to help applicants get into courses. We recommend that you apply for courses as soon as they open on our schedule page. To be fair to those who were registered for a course that was cancelled, we will be giving those students priority for future courses. We expect courses to fill up within 24-48 hours of opening.
Although there are no travel restrictions in place for individuals coming into Delaware from out of state, we are only accepting students and servers who can arrive with less than one day of travel, and only by private car. This is to minimize the risk of potential exposure to COVID-19 while traveling to the Center. There will be a comprehensive COVID-19 screening questionnaire attached to all applications, and we will thoroughly screen each student coming to the center to minimize the risk of any COVID-19 transmission. This includes a requirement for all individuals traveling to the center to obtain a negative PCR-based COVID-19 test certificate no more than seven days in advance of arrival. Center management will call each and every student accepted and enrolled for courses before the course begins to more fully outline the protocols for being at the center during this time. The most important thing is ensuring that everyone who comes to the Center is healthy.
Because of the evolving pandemic situation, the above guidelines may change at any time. All acceptances to attend a course will be conditional on state and local guidelines, and our ability to provide as safe a setting as possible during this volatile time.
All good wishes,
